Miami International Airport

Miami Airport
Also know as Wilcox Field and Miami International, MIA is the most important airport in Florida. It is sited very close to Downtown Miami at a distance of just thirteen kilometres (8 Miles). Other nearby cities are Miami Springs, Doral and Hialeah.

Being the main florida airport it handles passenger and cargo flights to a great number of destinations in the USA, North and South America and to major cities in Europe. According to official statements and reports, Miami International Airport handles more international cargo than any other airport in the United States.

Due to large local Latin American populations, MIA has developed to the largest gateway between the United States and Latin America. The airport’s strategic geographical location has additionally established the airport as the major hub for connecting traffic between North America, South America and Europe.

Statistics of 2009 revealed that more than 34 million passengers travelled through the airport, making it the 29th busiest in the world by passenger traffic. In the United States, it ranked first by percentage of international flights and second by volume of international passengers
