Miami is the seventh largest city in the United States with a population of approximately 5,500,000. It is located on the Atlantic coast in South-eastern florida bordered by two national parks, the Biscayne National Park on the east and the Everglades National Park on the west. Miami’s nick name is “The Magic City”.

Miami is a city of international fame and influence. It is an important centre for finance, fashion, commerce, culture, the arts and trade. Many international companies have their headquarters in Miami and the city is also home to the largest concentration of international banks in the United States.

The climate of Miami is Tropical, most of the year is warm and humid and the summers feel identical to the type of weather in the Caribbean tropics. This fine weather is one of the reasons why Miami is so popular as a top class holiday destination.

Miami is known for accommodating the greatest number of cruise ships in the world. The Port of Miami is considered as the “Cruise Capital of the World” and the “Cargo Gateway of the Americas” for more than twenty years. Here you will have the chance to see the largest cruise ships in the world.

Miami is a global center for entertainment and culture. You will find a growing amount of theatres, museums, parks, venues and performing arts centers. The most known is the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts which is the second largest performing arts scene in the United States after the Lincoln Center in New York.

The city of Miami is home to a great number of museums. Some of these are the Miami Science Museum, Bass Museum, Lowe Art Museum, Miami Art Museum, Miami Children's Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Frost Art Museum. The world’s largest art exhibition is taking place here every December. It is known as “Art Basel Miami Beach” and as “Olympics of Art” and attracts visitors from all around the globe. Miami is also a significant fashion center, home to most of the top modelling agencies in the world. It is host to numerous fashion shows and happenings including the world famous “Miami Fashion Week” and the “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami

Miami Beach is actually a distinct municipality with a population of approximately 90,000. It is located on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the world’s most excellent beach resorts. Miami Beach became very popular with the TV show “Miami Vice”. Before the show much of the area was in decay with high crime rates and vacant buildings. Nowadays, it is one of the richest and one of most trendy areas of the country.
